DIY Project Planner
Privacy Policy
What the app collects, what never leaves your device, and how to control it. In short: your projects, notes, materials, to-do lists and photos stay on your phone, there are no accounts, and what is sent off the device is anonymous usage information, an advertising identifier, and your purchase status.

Your project content stays on your device
Everything you create in the app — projects, to-do lists, materials and costs, notes, and the photos in a project gallery — is stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. There is no account to sign into, no cloud sync, and no server of ours that holds any of it. We cannot see your projects.
When you add a photo, you choose it through Android’s own file picker and the app copies it into its private storage. The app does not ask for camera or photo-library permissions and cannot browse your photos on its own: it only ever receives the single image you picked.
You can delete any project, note, material or photo from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
What the app does collect
The app sends the following to the services listed. None of it includes the contents of your projects, notes or photos.
- Product usage events — which features you use, such as opening a project or dismissing an offer — via PostHog, so we can see what is used and improve it.
- Session recordings via PostHog. See the section below, which explains exactly what these contain.
- App interactions and basic device information such as device model and Android version, via Google Analytics for Firebase.
- An advertising identifier, via Google AdMob, to show ads in the free version.
- Purchase and subscription status, via RevenueCat and Google Play Billing, to unlock Pro features and restore purchases.
This information is tied to a device or an advertising identifier, not to you by name. We never ask for your name, email address or any profile. We do not sell your personal information.
What session recordings do and do not capture
The app records anonymous sessions of how the interface is used, so we can find confusing screens and broken flows. We think it is only fair to be specific about what that means, because the app holds your own content.
Recordings are captured as wireframes, not screenshots: they show the shape and position of the interface rather than a picture of your screen. On top of that:
- Text you type is masked, so project names, notes and costs are not readable in a recording.
- Images are masked, so the photos in your project gallery never appear.
- Application logs are excluded, so purchase and entitlement detail is not swept up.
Recordings are not linked to your name, and we use them only to improve the app.
Who the information is shared with
The app sends data to the following services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- PostHog — product analytics and session recordings, processed on PostHog’s European infrastructure. posthog.com/privacy
- Google — Firebase Analytics, AdMob and Play Billing. policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat — purchase management. revenuecat.com/privacy
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Ads and your choices
The free version shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, including ads you can choose to watch in exchange for a feature. Buying Pro removes ads entirely.
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier, and turn off ad personalisation, in your device settings under Settings › Privacy › Ads. That choice applies to this app along with every other app on your phone.
Your rights and how to use them
- Delete your content — remove individual projects and photos in the app, or uninstall it to remove everything at once.
- Request deletion — email us and we will delete any analytics data and session recordings associated with your device identifier.
- Access — email us and we will tell you what information we hold.
If you are in the UK or the EEA you have rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR, including access, correction, erasure and the right to complain to your data protection authority. If you are a California resident you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know and to request deletion.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long information is kept
Your projects and photos stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Analytics data and session recordings are retained by PostHog and Google for the periods described in their policies, and no longer than is needed to improve the app. Purchase records are retained by Google Play and RevenueCat as required for billing.
Where data is processed
PostHog data is processed on European infrastructure. Google and RevenueCat are operated by companies based in the United States and may process data there, under the safeguards described in their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be shown by a new “last updated” date at the top of this page, and the current version is always available at this address.
